Do I Need A Lawyer For My Case?

Think about the old saying: “He who represents himself has a fool for a client.” – Abraham Lincoln. We believe in being your advocate. We will advise you if you do not need a lawyer for your case. We will also advise you of the likely outcome and the likely result for your case. Remember, the legal system is complex and the court does not give flexibility to those who do not have a lawyer simply because they are representing themselves.

How Much Does A Lawyer Cost?

Fees will depend on the type of case and its complexity. In divorce cases the retainer varies and we work on an hourly basis. It is really difficult to ascertain the time needed to successfully resolve the case. In personal injury cases, we do not get paid until you get paid. In each practice area, your fee will be quoted during your free initial consultation. Remember, while lawyers can be expensive, not hiring a lawyer can be even more expensive.

How Does The Free Consultation Work?

In a family law case, you will receive a free initial 30-minute consultation. During this time, you will advise your lawyer of any pending court hearings, what relief you are seeking, and your expectations. We recommend that you write any questions you may have prior to your consultation so that it goes smoothly and that all your questions are answered. Please bring any paperwork you have to this meeting.

In civil litigation or personal injury, you will receive a free consultation. These consultations are typically done by telephone. If our attorneys believe this is a case that they can help with, we will schedule a free consultation. Remember, bring any questions, medical records, police reports or documents you wish to discuss and we will be sure that you leave with a good idea of what to expect in your case.

Mediation and Arbitration

Not all matters have to go to court. Alternatives to traditional litigation are mediation, collaboration, or arbitration. These methods save clients time and are cost effective techniques for resolving disputes. At LaCourse Law, our attorneys have extensive experience and a high success rate in mediation law and arbitration law.
